Research On The Current Situation Of Librarians’ Professional Ability In Hengshui Secondary Vocational School

Abstract/Summary:
With the advent of the information age,the application of Internet of things,big data,artificial intelligence and other information technologies has brought new opportunities and challenges to the library cause.The smart library which integrates all kinds of advanced information technology is the development direction of the library in the future.Compared with the traditional library service mode,the service mode of Smart Library emphasizes the collection,analysis and integration of information resources,which puts forward new requirements for Librarians’ professional ability.At the same time,as the literature information center of secondary vocational schools,the library is not only an important embodiment of the quality of secondary vocational schools,but also an important auxiliary for the development of secondary vocational education.Under the situation that the country actively promotes the development of secondary vocational education,the library needs to keep up with the development of secondary vocational schools.As the core of library service,the professional ability of librarians is directly related to the function of secondary vocational school library.Due to the late start of the research on Librarian’s professional ability in China compared with that in foreign countries,most of the current research focuses on the professional ability of university librarians,resulting in the phenomenon that there are few research results in the research field of Librarian’s professional ability in secondary vocational schools.Therefore,through literature research and questionnaire,this paper preliminarily establishes the framework system of Librarian’s professional ability in secondary vocational schools.On this basis,the paper investigates the current situation of Librarians’ professional ability in Hengshui secondary vocational school,and provides direction for improving librarians’ professional ability.In this paper,combined with literature research and practice,the Delphi method is used to construct the vocational ability evaluation system of secondary vocational school librarians,which includes two first level elements and 14 second level elements.The two first level elements are professional ability and personal ability,and the 14 second level elements include organizational management ability,information service ability,information technology ability,user service ability,academic research ability,collection management ability,publicity and promotion ability,professional knowledge,professional ethics,self-management ability,learning ability,teamwork ability,teaching and training ability and communication ability.Secondly,through the investigation and Research on the professional ability of Librarians in five secondary vocational schools in Hengshui City,the author finds that the two indicators of professional competence of Librarians in Hengshui secondary vocational school have the highest scores in terms of user service ability and professional ethics,and the information technology ability and information service ability are slightly poor,It can not meet the needs of users;The lack of professional knowledge,academic research ability and self-management ability is urgent to be improved.Based on the data analysis and the investigation and practical experience,the author concludes that the main problems of Librarians’ professional ability are the single source of information,the solidifying of service mode,the inability to provide comprehensive information services for users and meet the teachers’ demands for resources;The lack of professional knowledge and academic research ability restrict the development and promotion of Librarians’ professional ability;The library utilization rate is low,the incentive mechanism of the school is not perfect,and the librarians lack of enthusiasm;There is room for further improvement in the construction of professional ethics.In view of the problems of Hengshui Secondary Vocational School Librarians’ professional ability found in the investigation and research,the author puts forward the corresponding promotion strategies:(1)relevant government departments formulate policies to ensure that the source of library funds is used to purchase literature and information services;social collection and use of free high-quality network resources are adopted to increase the content of information services;service methods are innovated to refuse single service,take the initiative to understand the needs of users and develop targeted service methods according to their needs.(2)Through a variety of ways to improve the professional knowledge level and academic research ability of librarians,including through the government and the Library Society to formulate and improve relevant policies,improve the entry threshold of librarians;The school encourages librarians to receive further education,provides opportunities for librarians to go out for training,and organizes in school training and experience exchange for librarians;Strengthen the discipline construction of Library Science and strengthen the personnel training of librarians.(3)We should take measures to improve the utilization rate of the library,improve the incentive mechanism from both material and spiritual aspects,and improve the enthusiasm of librarians.(4)Strengthen the construction of professional ethics.(5)Librarians should improve their self-learning awareness and ability.
