Discourse Analysis Of Mainstream Media Reports On Public Health Emergencies

As mentioned by Ulrich Beck,risk is actually closely connected with people's decisions.Risk is invisible.In 2020,a sudden Corona Virus Disease swept across the land of Hubei,and then spread to all sides of the country,and an invisible"anti-epidemic" war horn sounded."Public health emergencies" have once again entered the eyes of the public and the media after the SARS epidemic.The "tactics" of news and public opinion played by the media once again play an important role in public health emergencies.Based on some understanding of public health emergencies reports,this article uses content analysis and discourse analysis to analyze the content characteristics,make certain analysis and exploration of report characteristics,and significance of discourse construction,as well as the deficiencies of the report on the Corona Virus Disease 2019 in the mainstream media "People's Daily".The first chapter of this article introduces the research background.Internet technology has broken the monopoly of professional media on news reporting,and new media platforms have broadened the channels for news reporting.However,many problems have arisen with it,such as a decline in journalistic professionalism brought about by lower thresholds,rumors brought by short videos,fast-paced,fragmented news,and reversal news.Therefore,in the event of major events or public health emergencies,the authoritative and credible mainstream media reports still play a role in stabilizing the society.The second and third chapters are mainly about the construction of the report content and the analysis results.This article mainly selects the most representative mainstream media,People's Daily,as the main object of the sample research.January-April 2020 is the selected time period,and the content of the sample is analyzed.It can be concluded that the mainstream media People's Daily used news as the main report form and genre in reporting on public health emergencies,focusing on the themes of anti-epidemic and anti-epidemic pioneers,and used a new form of photo news to show all-round national and global anti-epidemic situations.,Which reflects the responsibility of major powers and the responsibility of positive public opinion guidance.The fourth chapter is mainly about the discourse analysis and constructive significance of the epidemic report.News reports are not just about disseminating information,reports themselves also represent positions and meanings.Through the integrated study of the sample content,it analyzes the discourse characteristics of mainstream media in the construction of quotation metaphors in public health emergencies,close connection with the issue setting,and emotional discourse as the main construction baseline.By discussing how to construct the meaning of public health emergencies reports,as well as the characteristics and influences behind the meaning construction,analyze the problems existing in mainstream media reports on public health emergencies,in order to provide thoughts and suggestions and further outlook for mainstream media's future reports of public health incidents.
