Public health emergencies are closely associated with health of the general public.Emergencies are unexpected with a high coverage and tremendous impacts,endangering health and life safety of the masses.Hence,they cause group uneasiness and panic very easily.In addition,they have certain impacts upon economic development,social stability and people's life.In public health emergencies,media are of great significance for health communications.Reporting public health emergencies from the perspective of health communications is critically important for research.The incidents on hepatitis-B vaccine in 2013 and vaccine of Shandong Province in 2016 are relatively typical public health emergencies related to vaccine safety with significant impacts.In this study,both incidents mentioned above are examined.This paper investigates reports of three different newspapers(namely Nanfang Daily,Health News and Southern Metropolis Daily)thoroughly to analyze contexts and features of their reports on both incidents,sum up their similarities and differences in reports,find out problems with their reports and propose constructive opinions,in hope of improving such reports.This thesis is mainly divided into four sections:In the first section,research backgrounds,research significance,research status,related theories,definitions,research ideas and methods are introduced in brief.Furthermore,research designs of this thesis,including research objects,sample selection and identification of research type,are described in details.In the second and third sections,Nanfang Daily,Health Daily and Southern Metropolis Daily are particularly analyzed as samples.These two sections focus on analyzing media representation of two aforementioned incidents,and specific features of these media in basic types of news and textual analysis.In the fourth section,questions are raised based on sample analysis to discuss achievements and deficiencies of media in health communications,while feasible suggestions are put forward.
