Narrative Features And Optimization Of Data News

With the development of big data and network technology,data news,as a new form of reporting,has been paid more and more attention by the media,which brings a new sense of experience to the audience through data mining and visual presentation,which is an important direction for the development of the future news industry.The essence of data news is consistent with traditional news,that is,it serves narrative.At present,the research on traditional news narrative at home and abroad has reached a more mature stage,but the research of data news narrative is still in the exploration stage,how to better combine data,visualization and news story,so as to attract the audience,to realize the optimization of data news narrative is the focus of the development of data news.The Global Data Journalism Awards bring together the best of our work from around the world and are highly authoritative.From the perspective of narrative,this thesis takes data news as the object of narrative research,takes the 2019 Global Data News Award winning works as a case study,analyzes the characteristics of data news in narrative language,narrator,narrative perspective,narrative time and space,narrative value,and explores how data news can optimize narrative.After analysis,we can summarize the following results: First,in narrative language,data news belongs to a visual style narrative,narrative language diversity,data and visual elements constitute the basis of narrative language,information chart is an important narrative language,pay attention to the use of dynamic interactive information map.Various types of diagrams are the general narrative language,and the text becomes the auxiliary narrative language.Second,the narrator is diversified,in the news production level,the narrator is composed of journalists,data analysts,designers and other integrated narrators,or by several different institutions to form a multi-narrative,so we should pay attention to the training of excellent data news team and pay attention to the cooperation of different institutions;Third,the narrative perspective is based on the cross-view of knowledge and limited knowledge,so as to show the meaning behind the data in a multi-dimensional way.Fourth,in the narrative time,with natural order and summary as the commonly used two ways,flexible interspersed with narrative methods of inversion and scene,narrative space is the use of thematic and interactive information composition to establish the integrated text space,and the use of map narrative methods to bring macro perspective.Fifth,for the narrative value level of data news,we can analyze from the visual narrative and news meaning level,from the visual narrative point of view,reflects its image narrative value,the value of on-the-spot satisfaction and the value of information attention,and in the news sense level,reflects the record and disclosure of social problems.The above conclusions are also the practice of data news in how to optimize narrative,through these studies,we hope to provide some useful thinking and enlightenment for the practice and development of data news at home and abroad.
