Research On Data Visualisation Winning Works Of The Data Journalism Awards

As a new reporting method,data news can't be separated from the development of digital networks,big data and other technologies.Big data can dive data news.Data news can provide readers with an unprecedented reading experience in a visual form.To some extent,it can be said that data news is a developing direction of the journalism in the future and the visualization is an essential presentation of data news.From the perspective of visualization,this paper analyzes the winners on data visualisation of the Data Journalism Awards for years,who seeks the best way to visualize the data news and explore how to better express information in the era of digital media.According to my research,the winning works are mainly from the United States,the purpose of which may be more than one.The majority of the works are mainly intended to convey information to the audiences.In the form of interaction,annotated maps and maps are the most frequently used and the form of visualization of the higher interactive data news can also bring a better reading experience to the readers.The works of data news can't exist without the support of the tools and technology.The tools that commonly used are the following ones: charting tools-Highcharts,Tableau Public,D3.js(Data-Driven Documents);in addition,computer programming languages——Javascript,HTML CSS,and Python.Some data analysis tools are often used in the award-winning works including Excel,SPSS and so on.Other common tools include graphic image design software,audio and video editing software,database,map visualization,and so on.Secondly,from the perspective of the work flow of data news,this paper sorts out the problems existing in the data visualization,such as data collection and screening,analysis and integration,and visualization,and proposes the counter measures.
