In recent years,with the changes in the world economic structure,Vietnam's tourism industry has gradually become an important economic source for the country.Vietnam is increasingly known in the world of tourism market.The World Tourism Organization estimates that Vietnam will be one of the 10 fastest-growing countries in world 's tourism industry in the next 10 years,ranking sixth in the world,and a major growth point for Asia's tourism industry.Vietnam's tourism industry shows strong growth,with an increasing number of domestic and foreign tourists.Many domestic tourist destinations are rated as the most popular places for foreign tourists.Therefore,the responsibilities of travel managers have become more and more important.Travel agencies are an important part of tourism industry in Vietnam.Not only middle managers of travel agencies determine the development and transformation of enterprises,they are also responsible for meeting partners,conducting seminars,and participating in travel agency promotions and visit many places,etc.Middle managers of travel agency companies often need to have extensive knowledge and good communication skills.In addition to general knowledge about travel industry and management,middle management also requires professional knowledge.The construction and application of middle manager competency model for Vietnamese travel agencies has an important practical significance.This article gathers a lot of literature which illustrate the job description and job characteristics of middle managers of Vietnamese travel agencies.It also analyzes the current status of middle managers' competence.At the same time,the behavioral interview method and the questionnaire survey method were used to establish the initial model of Vietnamese middle managers' competence.In determining the competency model,SPSS software is used to carry out validity analysis,reliability analysis of the questionnaire survey results,through factor analysis,principal component analysis,and rotated factor load matrix to further verify the rationality and necessity of managers' competency factors at all levels.It builds a competency model for the middle managers of travel agencies,which consists of 21 dimensions of competence,including management knowledge,management functions,and management quality.Re-applied in recruitment,training,salary management and performance management.
