With the development of science and technology,human beings have entered the digital age.Massive digital information poses a huge challenge to the speed and power consumption of data processing.Nowadays,the development of data processing equipment is limited by resources and battery life.Designing efficient and low-power arithmetic circuits have become a key research topic.In recent years,the academic community has proposed a circuit design idea called approximate computation,which aims to reduce area of the circuit and the power consumption by deliberately sacrificing appropriate calculation accuracy.Approximate calculations are widely used in arithmetic circuit design.Adders and multipliers are basic arithmetic units,and conventional adders and multipliers are no longer able to meet the requirements of high speed and low power consumption.Aiming at this problem and combining the idea of approximate calculation,this paper studies a new approximation addition and approximate multiplication structure,and designs a new high-speed approximation multiplier and applies it to practical engineering.First,the approximation multiplier reduces resource consumption by approximating partial product terms.Second,the pipeline structure is used to significantly increase the data throughput rate of the system.Third,the approximate multiplier is used to optimize the DCT/IDCT algorithm,which is applied to the image compression processing and implemented by FPGA.The statistical results show that compared with the precision multiplier,the total delay of the approximate multiplier is reduced by 24% ~ 33%,and the lookup table resource savings is 12% ~ 32%.The experimental results of image processing prove that the approximate multiplier designed in this paper has practical application value in engineering.Combined with the development trend of computer aided,this paper finally studies the background and development status of approximate logic synthesis,and implements the replacement simplification method.Through the integrated process of the algorithm guiding circuit,the computer aided tool is used to automatically design the approximation circuit,which is used as the development direction of the approximate arithmetic circuit design.
