The Publishing Service Practice Of Foreign Academic Libraries And Its Enlightenment To Our Country

Along with the development of digitization,network technology and the promotion of opening access movement,the traditional academic exchange and publishing mode has changed.Under the new academic exchange environment,academic libraries actively participate in the construction of digital libraries and institutional knowledge base.And launched academic publishing services to meet the diverse needs of users in the network era.Under the environment of digitization and network,library publishing service is an effective academic communication mode to improve service quality and expand service content.Library has gradually become an important role in academic exchange and propagate.We find that the research on libraries publishing services is limited to the analysis of specific cases and questionnaires at present when studying the current situation of academic libraries publishing services at home and abroad in this paper.Few authors analyze the dynamic development of libraries publishing services at home and abroad,and give targeted suggestions for publishing services in China.Therefore,this paper intends to took the types and quantities of publications mentioned in Library Publishing Directory(1-5 edition)as analysis object to explore the development status and practical experience of universities library publications in foreign countries in the past five years.Explore and structure libraries publishing service mechanism in line with national conditions of our country to promote the practical application of academic libraries publishing service.First of all,based on the publishing channels of foreign university libraries(Open access journal publishing,Institutional knowledge base publishing,Characteristic collection/Book publishing,Research data/Network information resources publishing),along with quantitative comparison and trend analysis of various publications involved in Library Publishing Directory in the past five years,this paper explores the types of publications which are suitable for the publishing service of Chinese university libraries,reveal the types of publications with a downward trend and analyzed the reasons with excavating the types of publications with an upward trend development and the publishing experiences,and presents inspirations on the publishing channels and publication types of Chinese university libraries.Secondly,in view of the different management systems of publications at home and abroad,combined with the reality of China’s publishing mechanism and basic national conditions,this paper explores the publishing channels and publication types which are suitable for the publishing service of Chinese university libraries,and presents inspirations on the publishing service of Chinese university libraries.Based on the current situation of the slow development of the academic library publishing service in China,this paper constructs the academic library publishing service mechanism from the perspective of overall coordination.The service mechanism constitutes a horizontal dimension including service dynamics,organizational collaboration,institutional norms,and performance appraisal,and an orderly progressive linkage relationship between the resource layer,the technology layer,the application layer,and the port layer.This research has certain reference significance for the successful publication of publishing services in academic libraries in China.This paper analyses the research situation of libraries publishing service at home and abroad,explores the publishing practice of foreign academic libraries and constructs a reasonable service mechanism for the practical application of this service in domestic libraries.This study is conducive to promote our academic libraries to carry out publishing services better.It has a certain reference and significance for our academic libraries to carry out publishing services smoothly.
