Research On The Editing And Publishing Of Young Children's Library In The Republic Of China Period

The publishing of children's books entered the prosperous period in the early 1930s to the eve of the Anti-Japanese War.As the largest publishing agency in the Republic of China period,Commercial Press invested a lot of energy and money in children's books publishing,and became the main force in the field of children's books publishing.The first episode of Young Children Library published in 1934 was the most important representatives of Commercial Press fulfillment of child-centered theory of children's literature,also was the first Chinese original picture book;Young Children Library created a new field of children's books publishing,which showed that the children's books had covered all-ages readers.Based on the development of children's literature and children's books publishing during the Republic of China period,this paper studies the editorial thoughts and publishing operations of Young Children Library,and discusses its· successful experience and enlightenment.This paper includes four chapters.The first chapter focuses on the change of the view on children and the May 4th new culture movement,states the generation and development of the modern Chinese children's literature and summarizes the publication of children's books in the Republic of China period.Guided by the view on children of child-centred,the second chapter makes detailed analysis on reader position,content presentation,educational value to refine editorial thoughts of Young Children Library,namely,opening up a new field of preschool education,emphasizing on education into life,stressing traditional culture to shape characters.The third chapter analyzes the publishing operations of Young Children Library from the aspect of topic,soliciting contribution, binding, printing, distribution, publicity and so on.The fourth chapter summarizes the experience of the publishing of Young Children Library in the Republic of China period,as well as the enlightenment to today's children's books publishing.As the classic children's book in the Republic of China period,the first episode of Children Library has been published 83 years,it's editorial thoughts and experiences on publishing operations provide great reference for today's workers who are engaged in children's books.
