With the development of information technology,the software industry will become one of the indicators to measure the comprehensive strength of a region.Scientific and comprehensive evaluation of the competitiveness of the software industry is of great significance for upgrading the level of the regional software industry and optimizing the industrial structure.Based on Porter's Industrial Competitiveness "Diamond Model" Theory,and on the basis of studying the national status and internal development differences of the software industry in Jiangsu Province,combining with the development characteristics of the software industry in Jiangsu Province,an evaluation index system of software industry competitiveness of 13 cities in southern,central and northern Jiangsu is established.Factor analysis method is used to analyze the software industry competitiveness of major cities in Jiangsu Province.The research results show that the software industry in Jiangsu Province has a leading position in China,but there are still some problems such as unbalanced industrial structure and large regional development differences.There are polarizations in the development of software industry in major cities in the province,and the differences among the three geographic regions of southern,central and northern Jiangsu are the main reasons for the serious imbalance in the development of software industry in the whole province.The 13 cities have strong and weak characteristics in the factors affecting the competitiveness of software industry.The competitiveness of the five cities in southern Jiangsu has a leading position in the whole province,while that of three cities in central Jiangsu and five cities in northern Jiangsu is relatively weak.The empirical analysis results show that the index system established has practical significance,which can accurately reflect the relative strength of the competitiveness of the software industry among cities.It provides a basis for the government to measure the competitiveness of the software industry,and provides a strategic direction for formulating accurate development policies,and has practical application significance.
