Research On Epstein's Techniques Of Telling Chinese Story And Its Contemporary Enlightenment

Epstein is an international journalist of Jewish descent.He joined Chinese nationality in 1957 and the Communist Party of China in1964.He has been performing his duty of telling Chinese story all his life,which known as the pioneer of the new China's international communication field.From a micro level,the content of the stories he tells focuses on resisting oppression and the pursuit of freedom;from a macro level,its content focuses on China's modern history and socialist construction.On the issue of how to tell Chinese story,his narrative skills can be summarized as: connection,blank and vivid language expression.Firstly,through the horizontal connection,he compared stories that occurred in different countries and regions in the same period,and compared their similarities and differences;through the vertical connection,he discussed the relationship between China's history,its present story and future story;through the interweaved connection,he calculated the internal logic between stories that happened in different regions and different periods.Secondly,Epstein adopted the narrative art of leaving a blank space to give the story multiple interpretations,realizing the goals of flexible handling of political discourse and speaking with facts.Finally,he used figurative and anthropomorphic rhetoric techniques,and cited a largenumber of folk slogans and direct quotations to enhance the vividness and flexibility of the story language.The fundamental purpose of his use of various narrative skills is to unite the people and resist together;in addition,the formation of his narrative skills comes from his identity background and life experiences.Epstein's narrative practice provides a reference for how to tell Chinese story well in the new era.At the personal level,we should tell the story of solidarity among people all over the world,and we must emphasize the dominant position of the people in the history;in addition,we should tell the story of civilian heroes in the great era,decreasing its propaganda colors and paying attention to humanistic care for civilian heroes to reshape the glory of humanity in them.At the national level,we should tell the story of China's development and progress,and stand at the height of the community of human destiny,using a vertical and horizontal narrative method to explain the universality and uniqueness of Chinese national story.
