With the continuous development of phased array technology and the improvement of application requirements,the design and application of phased array radar has been widely concerned.This paper researched and implemented phased-array automotive radar beam steering and targets detection technology based on a two-dimensional planar array.The features of phased array such as fast beam switching,flexible pointing,and multi-beam are used in radar target detection to improve radar target detection efficiency.In terms of hardware implementation,the hardware implementation method based on FPGA was adopted to carry out the design of two-dimensional planar array beam steering and target detection.and the logic code implementation,simulation verification,resource consumption and timing analysis was completed,so as to reflect the advantages in real-time and module universality.Aiming at practical engineering applications,relevant schemes of millimeter-wave phased array automotive radar were designed,and hardware implementation of the board of beam steering based on FPGA was completed by Verilog language.The correctness of scheme design was verified by simulation and test.The main content and contributions of this paper are as follows.(1)In order to improve the target detection efficiency in multi-target scenarios,this paper proposes a controllable multi-beam forming method based on FPGA.Compared with single beam,this method can ease the pressure of system resource scheduling and improve the multi-target detection efficiency.(2)Aiming at the application scenarios of phased array high frequency broadband,a beam control method with low-latency beam agility is proposed.Based on this method,the implementation of two-dimensional planar array beam steering on the FPGA is completed to achieve the real-time pipeline resolution configuration of the beam amplitude and phase.This method is suitable for frequency bandwidth and has high module versatility.(3)Aiming at the problem of real-time target detection in the clutter background,a pipeline detection method based on FPGA is proposed,which implements ML-CFAR detector,one-dimensional OS-CFAR detector,and two-dimensional OS-CFAR detector.This method fully utilizes the advantages of parallelism and pipeline on FPGA to reduce the resource consumption and detection delay,and improve the targets detection rate.(4)Aiming at the actual application scenarios of phased array radar,combined with actual engineering projects,a millimeter wave phased array automotive radar-related design was completed,the board of beam steering and scheme design based on FPGA was completed,and the Logic code was completed by the language of Verilog.(5)In addition,a large amount of debugging and testing work related to the phased array radar project was carried out,and logic code optimization was carried out according to the actual measurement situation to solve the hardware resource shortage problem encountered in the actual project.The scheme design and module implementation were verified through testing Correctness and feasibility of engineering applications.
