The deterioration of the radar working environment makes modern radars face severe challenges.And phased array radars meet the requirements of observation targets variability,long range and high data update rate,etc.Compared with general mechanical radar,phased array radar has the characteristics of fast beam scanning,beam shape agility and multi-beam forming.The beam steering system mainly realizes the phase calculation and distribution of the antenna array elements,which plays such a critical role in the functional realization of phased array radar.The renewal and iteration of phased array radar technology makes the beam steering system to be miniaturized,faster,and integrated.Therefore,this paper mainly studies the beam steering system of active phased array radar and its ASIC implementation.This paper describes the basic structure of phased array radar and the signal transmission mode of the beam steering system,analyzes the phase feeding principle of the planar antenna of the phased array radar beam pointing;studies the composition of the beam steering system and the implementation of each module in detail,introduces the calculation method of the two-dimensional wave control code,proposes several common beam control system design methods: look-up table method,centralized operation method,and distributed operation method.On the basis of theoretical research,this paper firstly completes the Matlab simulation of wave control code algorithm.selects the Cordic algorithm to calculate the sine and cosine by comparing,derives the Cordic algorithm formula and quadrant extension method,and realizes the calculation and simulation of wave control code.After that,this paper proposes a digital circuit design scheme of wave control code algorithm,uses Verilog to realize the module design of position information receiving,Cordic sine and cosine calculation,wave control code calculation and distribution,and host computer monitoring,and simulates and verifies each module based on Modelsim software.Then this paper uses FPGA to verify the correctness of the wave control code.By comparing wave control codes of FPGA,Matlab and Modelsim simulation,this paper analyzes the hardware calculation errors and their reasons;and realizes the effectiveness of wave control code calculations.Finally,this paper selects SMIC 0.18 um CMOS process to implement ASIC design,including logic synthesis(DC),pre-static timing analysis(Pre?STA),placement and routing,post-static timing analysis(Post?STA),formal verification and physical verification(DRC and LVS);and gets the physical layout.
