Research On The Construction Of Institutional Repository Of Double First-class Universities In China

Institutional repository is a knowledge platform based on the open concept,a new knowledge management tool,and an important form of open access activities.Its construction and use have attracted the continuous attention of scientific research and academic circles all over the world.At present,many institutional repositories have been built and put into use at home and abroad.They have played an important role in the preservation,organization,dissemination and sharing of knowledge,and have become important assistants in scientific research work.Many institutional repositories are under construction.According to the current survey,the University Institutional Repository is the main force in the construction of institutional repository,which promotes the management of university digital information resources and the open access and long-term preservation of scientific research results.In 2017,following the "211 Project" and "985 Project",the Ministry of Education issued a list of "double first-class universities",which marks a new era for the modernization of higher education in China.The overall education level and scientific research ability of the double first-class universities are in the forefront of our country.This paper chooses the double first-class universities as the object of investigation and research,and tries to summarize the current situation and problems of the construction of institutional repository in our universities through the situation of the double first-class universities,so as to provide suggestions for the follow-up construction.Firstly,the paper reviews the research results of domestic and foreign institutional repository and the construction process of institutional repositories,and summarizes the definition,characteristics and functions of university institutional repository;Secondly,a comprehensive survey was conducted on the current situation of the construction of the institutional repository of the double first-class universities institutions in China.The survey was carried out from the aspects of capital construction,resource collection,resource types,service functions and the formulation of construction policies;Thirdly,it summarizes the current situation of the construction of institutional repositories of the University of California abroad,summarizes its advantages,and elaborates the enlightenment to our country;Next,on the basis of a comprehensive survey and analysis of the current situation,this paper summarizes the shortcomings of the construction of the institutional repository of the double first-class universities in China,including the lack of relevant policy guidance at the national level,the insufficient number and influence of the institutional repository,the less amount ofresources included,the simpler type of resources included,the lack of corresponding quality control and evaluation system,and the service functions need to be broadened and open access Policies need to be improved,Sustainable development is insufficient and so on.Then,aiming at the problems,the paper puts forward some countermeasures to improve and perfect the Construction of Institutional repository of Double First-class Universities in China,including: establishing the guiding policies or documents for the construction of institutional knowledge base at the national level as soon as possible;strengthening publicity efforts;raising the awareness of the relevant parties on the importance,necessity and function of the construction of institutional repository;and playing the leading role of typical institutional repository.The knowledge base itself should strengthen the construction of relevant policies(such as compulsory self-storage policy),strengthen the quality control of the results,broaden the service function,and ensure the sustainable development of the institutional repository by establishing the service and supervision system and implementing the evaluation and feedback mechanism,etc.Finally,take Xiamen University as an example to analyze the case,summarize its construction status and characteristics.The construction of institutional repository of double first-class universities in China is common to other types of universities in many aspects.Therefore,the Countermeasures of this paper are expected to have reference significance for the construction of institutional knowledge base in other universities in China.
