Study On The Forming Mechanism And Influence Of Popular Sympathy In The Self-media Environment

Popular sympathy as a national collective emotion was created through the sensational effects of the media.It not only affects individual's fate,but also affects the implementation of public policies such as judicial trials.The power of this emotion is amplified in the new environment of sel-media in so many social issues.This paper uses case-analysis method and literature-analysis method and combines with the latest controversial social issues such as Jia Jinglong Case,Yu Huan Case,Jiang Ge Case to thoroughly discuss the forming mechanism of popular sympathy in the self-media environment.This emotion can easily lead to the irrationality of public opinion from the media network,affecting the authority and independence of judicial trials.Popular sympathy forming is not only for media hype,it is a mechanism problem,referring to social context,disseminator,media audience and so on.Popular sympathy is closely related to public opinion,but it is not the same as public opinion.Popular sympathy is the key to public opinion and the determing factor for the turning point and heat of public opinion.The criminal cases that are likely to provoke popular sympathy are: cases involving ethical issues,cases involving special identities,and cases involving sensitive social issues.The public in these cases affects the administration of justice in some certain special ways.Popular sympathy under media environment has certain practical and theoretical significance to understand netizens' attitude,to resolve social conflics,to improve media coverage,and to optimize the guidance of public opinion in self-media environment and so on.
