With the advancement and development of information technology,various new media have emerged endlessly.Sina Weibo,as one of them has attracted a large number of users and has become one of the most popular media platforms in China.In many hot events,each netizen can express his opinion and show his own opinions through the platform,and the public has gradually changed from a passive recipient of information to an active participant.At the same time,China is currently at a critical stage of social transformation,the changes in social structure,the gradual improvement of citizen' self-awareness and public participation awareness,and the demand for “publicity” in modern society,all of which have promoted the rise of public participation.As a form of public participation,public sympathy relies on the collective emotions of the masses,which is different from previous public opinion based on communicative rationality.Public participation based on public sympathy is mostly driven by emotions.This thesis uses case analysis and text analysis,taking “Zhao Yu” case as an example,and explores the impact of different social actors' construction and mobilization of public sympathy on the Weibo platform.The analysis found that the parties mainly used strategies such as combining words and pictures with videos,or mobilizing emotional and moral power;the media mainly used strategies such as constructing controversial headlines,tragic narratives and making hypotheses;the general public mainly used appealing speech and satirical metaphor speaking and rendering tragedy speech.Together,these actors have inspired and built public sympathy.At the same time,public sympathy has related effects such as promoting the development of events,causing public opinion hot spots,and inducing irrational emotions,showing the possibility of emotional factors driving public participation.Finally,the thesis reflects on public participation driven by public sympathy in the case of “Zhao Yu”.Public sympathy is often the emotional resonance of the public in response to sensitive social hot issues or imperfect social systems in real life.It usually has a clear tendency.Through the emotional bias of public sympathy,a deeper social problems can be dug.The new media platform has a wider audience coverage,more comprehensive information transmission,and a higher user voice,making it easier for public sympathy to be built on the new media platform.The summoned public has "liquidity" and plays different social identities and plays different roles indifferent events.Under these conditions,public sympathy is generally social,critical,and easily manipulated.The cultivation,understanding and guidance of this collective emotion are all realistic issues related to social structure and social stability,which can promote the promotion of democracy and public participation.
