Study On Children's Reading Promotion Activities Of Public Libraries In China

In recent years,public libraries in china have carried out various forms of children's reading promotion activities,including story-telling,parent-child reading,and competitions.Though some public libraries such as Capital Library of Children and Shenzhen Library of Children have made certain achievements in children's reading and have formed sound reading atmosphere,there is still a certain gap in children's reading promotion compared with developed countries.Due to the vast land of China,regional differences and urban-rural differences,children's reading promotion in libraries is extremely unbalanced.At present,the number of libraries in China is far from enough to meet the needs of children.Therefore,there are great differences in the reading levels between urban and rural children,.The vulnerable groups' reading status,is especially poor.By in-depth study of the situations of children's reading promotion activities in the Chinese public libraries,combing and summing up the current situation of children's reading promotion in china,aims to provide a theoretical basis and a practical basis for children's reading promotion of our public libraries.Based on the theoretical knowledge of children's reading promotion,the article analyzes the promotion subjects,promotion forms,promotion targets and number of promotion activities about children's reading.We found that the current reading promotion of children in libraries in China is facing the following problems:First,the corresponding laws and regulations are inadequate.Special children's reading laws have not been introduced yet.Children's reading promotion activities are not protected by laws.Second,lacking of solid content but focusing on form for children's reading promotion.Third,no paying enough attention to children's reading promotion.Fourth,children's reading promotion subject is relatively single.Most activities carried out by the libraries are individual actions,lacking of cooperation with neighboring social institutions such as neighboring libraries,cultural institutions,and public welfare organizations,resulted in poor situations in children's reading promotion.Fifth,the object of promotion is not comprehensive.Children guardians and educators should also be included in the promotion target.Sixth,special evaluation system is in loss.Regular assessment of the activities helps to understand the progress of the project and improve the activity plan so as to achieve the goal of children's reading promotion.Then,the two successful examples including the happy reading of children interactive story conference in Guangxi Autonomous Region and the Public welfare activities about children reading in Liaoning Province are elaborated in the paper,providing a useful reference for children's reading promotion in our country's public libraries.Then,the paper discusses the strategies on the basis of the problems of children's reading promotion in China's public libraries.Finally,according to the problems of children's reading promotion in China's public libraries,the paper mainly explores the following five measures:First is about the top-level design and construction.To formulate children's reading promotion development plan,establish and improve laws and regulations,establish national and local promoting institutions,and formulate projects on children's reading.Second is about the promotion subject.To cooperate with social groups to carry out diversified activities for children's reading promotion and strengthen the linkage of bookstores to promote children's reading promotion.Third is to enrich the resource construction.To improve the construction of library children resources,the library network resources to popularize children's reading and make the reading bibliography in classification.Fourth is to expand the target of reading promotion.To strengthen the promotion of children,guardians and educators.Fifth is to improve the quality of children's reading promotion.To regularly investigate and evaluate children's reading,train professional talents for children's reading promotion and draw up the development plan of local children's reading.
