Historic figures and their activities are one of the main components of history.They are also important contents for teachers to teach history and students to learn history.Therefore,the excavation and research of historical figures is particularly important.However,due to the numerous historical figures and many controversial figures in history,teachers can only rely on subjective experience and relatively single content of textbooks when shaping the image of historical figures.In addition,textbooks are mostly written with the method of taking the lead by events and neglecting the description of historical figures.It is difficult for teachers to extract figures directly from textbooks and teach historical figures.In order to construct historical figures reasonably in history teaching,to supplement the shortcomings of the conventional event-led method in history teaching,highlight the value of people,and improve the quality of teaching.This paper takes Li Hongzhang as an example to study the construction of historical figures in high school history textbooks.The research object of this study is the research and image construction of Li Hongzhang in the history circle and the related content of Li Hongzhang in the fourth edition of textbook.By means of literature research,comparative research and text analysis,this paper studies the image construction of Li Hongzhang in high school history textbook.Firstly,this study reviews the relevant research on the compilation of historical textbook characters,the image of historical textbook characters and the image of Li Hongzhang in history education and history circles.Secondly,it combs and counts the contents related to Li Hongzhang in the fourth edition of textbooks,and makes textual analysis of these contents.Through the study of the contents of the textbooks,we can see that the textbooks show four images of Li Hongzhang: the pioneer of modernization,the pillar of the Qing Dynasty,the accomplice of feudalism,the traitor and the executioner.Thirdly,compared with the study of historiography,there are some differences between the four images of Li Hongzhang displayed in the four editions of textbooks and theconstruction of Li Hongzhang's image in the historiography circles.In this paper,the reasons for this phenomenon are analyzed from the two aspects of historiography research and textbook compilation.Finally,through the integration of historical research on the construction of Li Hongzhang's image,the image of Li Hongzhang in the history textbook of senior high school is reconstructed,and the images of "loyal minister in a narrow sense","pathfinder in modernization","diplomatic pillar of the Qing court","executioner and mohist" are refined.Based on this,some suggestions on the construction of Li Hongzhang's image in textbooks have been raised.Firstly,in the compilation of historical figures in textbooks,attention should be paid to the unification of the qualitative content of Li Hongzhang,the compilation of historical figures,and the conclusion and content should keep up with the development of historical research as far as possible.Secondly,in the construction of Li Hongzhang's image in history textbooks,teachers adhere to the four principles of full and solid accumulation of historical facts,scientific extraction of textbook information,drawing on the achievements of historical research,and evaluation criteria for scientific figures.In order to build an objective and complete image of Li Hongzhang,in order to apply it to teaching and improve the quality of teaching.
