Objectives:Using questionnaire method,this study collects related information about cleaning staffs in a hospital,to evaluate those mental health,analyze the influencing factors and describe their distribution of the mental health status.Moreover,this study further explores measures for mental health and strategies of job satisfaction.Based on those results,this study gives managers some references to manage their cleaning staffs,improve hospital environment and increase medical service quality.Methods:This study investigated the cleaning staffs a hospital in Shenyang by questionnaire.This data questionnaire was collected by the unified training of staff face to face interview investigation,and included four parts,such as individuals basis information(age,gender,ethnic,educational level,family income,residence,etc.),Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS),Kessler psychological distress scale(K10)and Job Satisfaction Scale.The collected information was processed,after verification,using EpiData to establish the database and entry data,using SPSS24.0 for statistical analysis.Mean and standard deviation were used to describe measuring indexes,t-test,variance analysis or rank sum test were used to compare between groups.Categorical variables formed a specific or rate to describe,and used the chi-square test to compare between groups.The influencing factors of mental health status and job satisfaction analyzed by single factor and multi factor non conditional Logistics regression analysis and linear-regression analysis.Results::(1)In this survey,398 cases finish this questionnaire.Female accounted for 62.8%.And the age in female individuals ranged from 78 to 24,and their average age was 54.32±7.64 years.The Han nationality accounted for 83.2%.The number of cleaning staffs with junior middle school education or below was the highest,accounting for 78.9%.Their average monthly family income ranged from 1000 to 3000 yuan,accounting for 69.1%.The number of registered permanent residence in this city was 74.6%.85.7 % of staffs were married.(2)In this 398 individuals,12.1% smoked or had the history of smoking.15.6% cleaning staffs drunk alcohol.The average daily sleep time of cleaning staff was 7.2 ± 1.03 hours,51.3% of them slept more than 8 hours.Working hours was 8.2 ± 0.89 hours per day,73.4 % of cleaning staff never worked overtime and 84.4 % of cleaning staff never worked the night shift.(3)In this 398 individuals,the average SAS anxiety score was 45.90±6.74,and the average of items was 2.30±0.34.There were 62 cases of staffs with anxiety tendency(SAS ? 50),and the positive rate was 15.58%.The results showed that there was statistical significance in age,gender,registered permanent residence status,educational background,marital status,family per capita monthly income smoke and drink in cleaning staffs in a hospital(P<0.05).The results of Logistic regression analysis showed that the anxiety of hospital cleaning staff was correlated with the marital status,educational background drinking and smoking(P<0.05).Spinsterhood,educational background and the habit of drinking or smoking were the risk factor of anxiety tendency of cleaning staffs in a hospital.(4)In this 398 individuals,the average stress level was 14.79±6.37,and the average items score was 1.48±0.64.The positive rate was 5.0% for K10?25 individuals.The analysis results showed that there are association between gender,nationalities and detection of stress rate respectively(P < 0.05).However,there was no statistical significance in age,registered permanent residence status,marital status,educational background,family per capita monthly income of cleaning staff of the positive rate of mental stress risk(P > 0.05).The results of single factor analysis showed that there was statistical significance in gender,nationality,average sleep time daily and average daily working hours(P > 0.05).The results of multiple Logistic regression analysis showed that mental stress risks of cleaning staff were related to gender,nationality and average daily sleep time(P < 0.05).This indicated that male,minority group,the habit of smoking or drinking and more 8 hours daily sleeping time were a risk factor for mental stress level.(5)In this 398 individuals,the average score of job satisfaction was 22.89±3.49,and the average items score was 3.82±0.58.The average score of the six aspects of job satisfaction was: boss(4.21± 0.754),colleague(4.12 ± 0.731),job nature(3.89 ± 0.778),working status(3.79 ± 0.814),promotion of opportunities(3.64±0.858),and income(3.26 ±1.061).The results of univariate analysis showed that there was no statistically significant in age,gender,nationalities,household registration status,marital status,educational background,family per capita monthly income(P>0.05).The results indicated that there was no statistically significant in smoking,drinking,sleeping time daily(P>0.05).The study displayed that working hours daily,the frequency of overtime,and night watch did not associate with the score or job satisfaction(P>0.05).Conclusion:The stressful tendency rate of cleaning staff in a hospital was similar to general population,but male was higher than female.Marital status,education,smoking and drinking were the major risk for anxious tendency.The positive rate of stress level was slightly lower than general population,but ethnic groups,sleeping hours daily,and habit of smoking were majority risk for mental stress risk.The overall job satisfaction of hospital cleaning staff is consistent with the research results of nurses' job satisfaction,but income score of job satisfaction was lowest.
