Nearly half a century, the development of high frequency signal synthesis technology is very fast, the corresponding electronic products have emerged, people's need for the electronic product has been greatly increased. Of course, GHz frequency synthesis technology is as an important part of high frequency signal synthesis technology, people pay more and more attention on it, its development is rapid especially in communications, navigation, information transfer and other areas.The main research content of this thesis is to design the generator who can produce a GHz high frequency signal, its output frequency can be changed in a certain range. The system uses the integrated PLL chip ADF4108 who is produced by American ADI company as the core device, and uses MAX2750 device who is produced by MAXIM company as the voltage controlled oscillator, takes C8051F320 SCM system as the control unit, therefore, form a frequency signal source who can be preset as GHz high frequency. The results of test and simulation shows that the measured performance of the GHz high frequency signal generator who is designed in this paper has achieved the expected requirements.The specific work of this thesis can be summarized as follows:1.The status of the frequency synthesis technology at home and abroad and its development process were summarized, illustrated its important role in high frequency signal synthesis.2.The implementation method of GHz high frequency signal synthesis technology was discussed. In theory, analyzed the characteristics of DDS technology and PLL technology respectively, those were laid the theoretical foundation for the design of GHz high frequency signal generator.3.The hardware system of GHz frequency generating device was designed, the relevant control program was compiled, and the designed hardware system was tested by simulation software. Simulation results show that the designed circuit system could achieve the expected technical indicators.4.The GHz high frequency signal generator was produced actually, and it had been carried on the debugging and performance test. The actual test results showed that the designed circuit system was accorded with the designed requirements.The design of GHz high frequency signal generator in this thesis can be used in wireless communication, high speed signal processing and other fields as a GHz signal source. Because the method is simple and easy to implement, it has a very good application value.
