With the rapid development of economy,China's position on the international stage is also rising."national image",as an important soft power,is difficult to adapt to the real development speed.The communication university of China national image research team found that in the west mainstream media news reports about China,in addition to the neutrality of objectivity,the amount of negative press is far higher than positive coverage,especially for the Chinese government formulated the sensitive system,political and human rights issues mostly negative reports.This situation will not only weaken China's international credibility,but also damage China's image in the international community and hinder the long-term development of China's politics,economy and culture.In recent years,the concept of "national image" has become a topic of concern to scholars in various fields,and has attracted more and more experts' attention.The concept of national image is very broad,in addition to the public's subjective evaluation of a country in the macroscopic aspect,it also includes the political,economic and diplomatic activities and other micro-aspects of behavioral activities.Many scholars from the perspective of communication,political science and international relations,focus on analyzing the different national image of China's media construction in specific period.Nowdays,In the era of globalization,international communication tend to be more visualized and symbolized,in the context of "the light China",Joshua Cooper Ramo said that those big strategic challenge which China facing now,has a close relation with its"national image",that is mean form a good national image is the core of the national strategic development,the developing target should turned to shape a good image of the country,however,the complex and changing international situation shows that every moment of national image shaping and spread is not happen overnight,it is a long-term process to accumulate.The documentary is not only an important way which is indispensable for a country to show its own culture to the world and disseminate national civilization,but also the cultural product with the most international influence,cultural character and communication force.In the process of cultural communication between different countries,documentaries have been recognized as a global language that does not distinguish between RACES.In besides,its own quality of rigorous and realistic gives the documentary high credibility of natural advantages,documentary is becoming the most conducive method to open the door of the medium international communication,It is surely a powerful tool to shape national image.The shaping and dissemination of national image and mass media have always been closely related to each other.In the way of shaping the national image and enhancing the influence of the country,documentaries are totally different from the positive and serious discourse competition in TV news.The dissemination of documentaries are more subtle and soft,more artistic and humanistic.In order to explore the influence of a documentary on the national image building and transmission,and even the impact on future direction of Chinese documentary industry,studying and drawing lessons from these excellent documentary are necessary,to promote the development of China's film market is of great significance.Since its premiere,the feature film has gained wide attention and resonance at home and abroad.Searches for "great-power diplomacy" soared the first in the first day,to the peak of the second day,and have since maintained a high search volume.The six episodes of"great power diplomacy" have successfully achieved the concrete expression of peace,confidence and cooperation in China,showing a more authentic China to the world.The film has a good effect on the attraction of Chinese culture and the promotion of national image.Based on the theory of journalism and communication,this paper carries out content analysis and case study.the two concepts of "documentary" and "national image" are elaborated and defined by using the literature research method,and the deep connection between documentaries and national image will be discussed.Be based on the six episodes of the documentary "super power diplomacy",doing content analysis and case study for the "power diplomacy",to analyze the "China image"thematic patches of inductive,including inherit and carry forward a "peaceful China",mining and show a "confident China",advocating and practice"win-win China".And the"audio-visual feast" created by "big country diplomacy" is characteristic in content level,audio-visual language and narrative mode and so on.This paper analyzes its proportion composition,considers the national ideology which is hidden behind the text,try to find out the underlying meaning behind the text,and to clarify the specific national image presented by the documentary.Will also present the "image" of the great powers to its successful experience and shortcomings are analyzed,together with the present situation of Chinese documentary development,for the country's image as well as the development of China's documentary feasibility and rationalization proposals are put forward.
