After years of development,the Internet has become essential infrastructrue,the major factor which determines the performance of the Internet is network devices,and the core of network devices is network chip.The design and development of network chip has become a hot research field in recent years.The complex functionality of network chip makes its testing difficult and time consuming,therefore,it is pratical to study the custom network chip's test equipment with easy operation,strong versatility and high test efficency.In this paper,an FPGA-based network chip test equipment framework has been built,and several main core modules and related control softwares have been designed.The main work includes: LBS bus converting module has been designed,it is used for CPU to control the logic of FPGA;RGM? interface test module has been designed,and its test cases covered RGM? interface's read and write testing,tolerance testing and abnormal testing have been given,test coverage has been improved;FPGA logic program loading module has been designed,taking CPLD as FPGA-loaded external controller,through the hardware and software's cooperation to achieve a fast and flexible FPGA loading method,so that logic program loading rate has been improved;A friendly graphical user interface has been designed,users can add and delete test items or test cases for their testing demand,when the test completed,users can upload the test results to database,and can also generate chips' test results comparison report using the data saved in database;Tcl parser is added in PC software,using script to conctol test process realized the separation of application interface and business functions,which is highly scalable;A custom communication protocol based on socket has been designed for reliable peer-to-peer data transmission between PC software and embedded system;Relevant drivers have been developed in embedded system.Taking an access network chip's RGM? interface as the testing object to test the hardware and software functions of test equipment,test results show that automatic test equipment is able to test the chips effectively,one-click automatic test has been achieved.
