A Comparative Study Of The ‘Belt And Road' Reports Between China Daily And China Daily USA

The ‘Belt and Road' initiative is a significant strategic decision of the Party Central Committee represented by President Xi Jinping to cope with the profound changes in the global circumstances and co-ordinate the overall situation of the international and domestic ones.As soon as the initiative was proposed,it received worldwide attention.China Daily is one of the Chinese three major media in international report,and naturally the report of ‘Belt and Road' became an important topic of its coverage.Being two different versions,China Daily and China Daily USA have both distinctions and relations.Studying the samples of their reports about the ‘Belt and Road' through quantitative analysis and comparative analysis,it's found that there are differences in the aspects of their report content,the sources of their reports and the style of their reports.In report content,China Daily focuses on the economic reports,while China Daily USA focuses more on the comprehensive reports;in their report style,China Daily prefers in-depth reports,while China Daily USA is more keen on news.Practicing narrative analysis and framework analysis on the two classes of samples from their story,narrative discourse and narrative behavior,it is found that there are differences between the choice of news facts,the choice of narrator and the way of expression of these two.The samples of China Daily focuses on the dynamic reports of specific news and usually expresses the theme through direct narration,the cited views of this newspaper are mainly from the Chinese politicians,while the samples of China Daily USA more focuses on comprehensive news and frequently illustrates the theme through explanation and elaboration,the views in this newspaper are more cited from the foreign politicians.The main reason for the differences between the two is that the audience's demand for information is different.It reflects the principle of ‘Differentiated accurately in international communication',from the perspective of communication science,it is the practice of ‘Precise Communication'.In addition,it is also found that there are some problems to be solved in the international communication of the ‘Belt and Road' initiative,such as the lack of originality and pertinence.The following practice of precise communication by external publicity media needs to be further strengthened.
