Monographs are the main means of academic communication and communication,especially in the field of humanities and social sciences,which is symbol of important research results.Over the past few decades,the monograph market has shrunk by nearly 90%,as aresult,the library collection structure has changed.In order to cope with the decline in sales,the publisher began to change the production type of publications,focusing on public books and textbooks.Researchers were forced to meet the market manufacturing “popular” books,monographs is facing the publishing crisis.On the other hand,the academic itself is experiencing a rapid change,academics,research institutions and related fund committees that the traditional publishing rules apply to the increasingly open Internet era is a question,the current publication system of monographs,especially in humanities and social sciences(HSS),not only did not promote the spread of human knowledge,but also spread to all authors and readers,especially for researchers and communities in developing countries.Therefore,the study of new new publishing channels are critical to researchers and universities.Open access solve the humanities and social sciences monograph publishe crisisthrough four ways: Firstly,provide free digital version on internet to improve the traffic and visibility of monographs.secondly,based on journal open access and the low cost of digital copy to find a sustainable business model for monograph publish.Thirdly,accelerate the dissemination of knowledge efficiency,eliminate knowledge barriers,and conducive to the University Press returned to the publication values itself of academic service.Fourth,allow the form and content of publication diversity,such as the open peer review process,video combined with data publichtions,provide a guarantee to the academic freedom and promote the humanities and social sciences research in the field of community construction.Since the opening of the OAPEN project in 2008,the foreign university publishers and the commercial publishers have responded positively.At present,a variety of OA monograph business models have been formed,and they have been adjusted and innovated in practice.These models have important reference significance for our country.Based on the theory of open access,business model and other related issues,this paper first combs and summarizes the existing foreign typical OA business models and their characteristics of humanities and social sciences monographs.Secondly,compares and evaluates these business models and masters the characteristics of the operation and the application of the environment,advantages and disadvantages of various business models,and different stakeholders in the OA monograph commercial eco-chain interaction mechanism,finally analyze the social basis of open and the parties to participate in business model,With foreign experience to seek China's OA monograph business model innovation and development countermeasures.
