With the development of knowledge economy and people's material and cultural life,reading is becoming an important way to enrich people's spiritual life.Children's reading is a complicated process and is closely related to intelligence factor,thinking mode and linguistic competence.As an internal driver,reading motivation can effectively stimulate,guide and maintain reader's reading activities.Minority areas in the midwest most are poor mountainous district,have a backward economical and educational development,which makes the reading of ethnic minorities particularly important.Therefore,it is necessary to do research about minority children's reading motivation,.This research focuses on minority children in Xiangxi district,through field research,it analyzes minority children's reading motivation and influence factors,the thesis includes following three contents mainly: firstly,conducted a survey of 553 children of ethnic minorities with questionnaire,using the Average and Pearson correlation methods to analyze the strength and interrelation of Reading efficiency,intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation on children' reading motivation.Secondly,discusses the influence factors on minority children in Xiangxi district's reading motivation,which mainly includes the individual difference,psychological development and reading environment.Thirdly,based on the perspective of library,it mainly proposes optimizing strategies on promoting reading needs,cultivating reading habits and optimizing reading environment.The research concludes in three areas based on practical analysis.Firstly,minority children's self-efficacy and the understanding of the importance of reading is not high,reading interest is relevant to reading materials' title,cover and content.External motivation plays an important role to promote reading.Secondly,in terms of gender,girls reading motivation is higher than boys as a whole;in terms of grade,the higher grade often correlate with lower reading motivation;in terms of origin,compared with urban students,rural students' reading motivation is lower.Thirdly,for the psychological factors,most of the minority students' intelligence fall behind Han nationality children,their psychology develop later,reading attitude is passive and self-confidence is insufficient;for the reading environment,parents education level,the amount of domestic library,family reading atmosphere,a mode of teacher-student interactivity and reading companion all have an impact on reading motivation.
