In the 21st century,human society has entered the era of information,human daily work,human study and human life are closely with the computer and Internet applications.Information has become an extremely important social resources,people's daily activities are closely related to information.In other words,information is the invisible wealth,information has become the important resources and core resources of developing information society.It is necessary to cultivate and improve the people's information literacy for adapting demands,information literacy is the foundation of the future survival and development for citizens.Everyone should have the information to obtain information,select information,evaluate information and use information to meet the needs of the information age.Everyone should have the ability to maximize the utility of information and knowledge.The college students are the main force of social development and technological innovation,the cultivation of college student's information literacy has become an important content of college student's education.It has great theoretical and practical significance to investigate the information literacy of college students.Information literacy is a kind of stable psychological quality which people needed in the information environment,information literacy includes information awareness and information knowledge,information ability and information morality.Information literacy reflects comprehensive ability to obtain,sort,settle and analyze information for citizens.For meeting the needs of information society,all over the world training and improving the national information literacy based on their own development.Increasing the investment in national information literacy has become an inevitable trend,while training college students information literacy has also become an important task of institutions of higher learning.Information literacy as this paper background,this paper is divided into six parts.The first part is the introduction.The second part is the basic theory and the present situation of the information literacy,this paper mainly discusses the related concepts and the characteristics of information literacy.This paper introduces the evaluation standard of information literacy ability both at home and abroad.The third part has take three colleges and universities in Shandong province as examples to investigate the information literacy of college students.This investigation is divided into six parts,these parts are personal information and information awareness,information knowledge,information ability and information morality and library construction.The forth part is the college student's information literacy based on the survey results.The fifth part is measures to improve the student's information literacy.The six part is summary.
