As the center of documental information as well as the facilitating agency for teaching,researching and discipline construction,libraries play an important role in the development of colleges and universities.The performance evaluation of library staff presents its importance in issues relating to the staff's personal benefits including salary and welfare,professional title appraisal,as well as the recruitment selection from the standpoint of administrators.In recent years,despite the increasing attention and some improvement gained in library staff evaluation both in theory and practice,some problems still exist,such as lack of aiming and reasonable basis in the construction of evaluation system;the lack of communication in the implementing process,and lack of feedback and application on the results of evaluation,etc.All these problems have hindered the promotion of the managerial effectiveness and have limited the staff's enthusiasm.All these problems presents the importance of constructing a more suitable evaluation system,and better optimization of the present evaluation system.This paper firstly discusses the connotation methodology,theoretical basis,feasibility,and difficult points of the performance evaluation for college library staff,followed by a thorough and systematic analysis of the present situation of organization structure,the distribution of posts,in FE university,etc.Problems in the evaluation of FE university library staff are optimized from the aspects of evaluation system,scheme plan,and implementing procedures.Finally,the author comes to the conclusion that,through this empirical study,some measures can be taken and improvement can be gained in the evaluation system in the libraries of domestic colleges and universities.
