A Research On Performance Evaluation Of University Libraries

Since the beginning of the20th century, the countries of the world, especially Europe and the United States and other developed countries have launched a series of academic seminars on digital library performance evaluation, and developed a certain standard. This has caused great concern in many countries including China. China officially began the research into library performance evaluation in the1980s, in order to improve the work efficiency and management efficiency, the university library carried out performance evaluation activities in the early1990s as system specifications. The course of20years of practice shows that the establishment of library performance evaluation system is not only the need to enhance the self-image of the library, but also the need to improve work efficiency and an important guarantee for the development of the library.Based on reading a lot of related literature, by analyzing the performance evaluation of digital library research status at home and abroad, the author takes the form of questionnaires and interviews with experts, analyzes the statistical data. The author proposes the purposes and principles of establishing university library performance evaluation, analyzes factors that affect the development of performance evaluation of the university library, and finally establishes the university library performance evaluation indicators design system, using AHP weight index calculation and consistency checking.The paper is divided into four parts:Chapter I introduces the research background, significance of the topic, the research status on the digital library performance evaluation at home and abroad and research contents and methods.Chapter II analyzes the influencing factors, such as objective factors, subjective factors and internal operating factors, to the performance evaluation of the university library.Chapter III presents the purpose and principles of establishing university library performance evaluation indicators design, University library performance evaluation system and the application of performance appraisal of the scientific method.Chapter IV presents university library performance evaluation indicators design. including the overall designing idea of the study, the research of data and statistics, performance evaluation indicators system and the methods of the data analysis and results analysis.Chapter V Conclusion is a summary of the research.Through the analysis and research, this paper would like to make some contribution to the development of performance evaluation for the university library. I hope to provide some valuable reference of this indicator system for future study of the university library performance evaluation.
