Chinese drama has been showing in Thailand for over 40 years and it also has highly influenced Thai audience.Whenever Thais talked about Chinese drama they would mention period drama,Chinese material art or romance which made Thai people know Chinese Kung Fu as well as Chinese history.Nevertheless,during the last 10 years,the Chinese Idol Drama such as "Meteor Garden" was dramatically popular in Thailand.The day after first episode was broadcast,a lot of teenagers kept taking about it including following up main actors/actresses in its original soundtrack.This is the first step for some Thai audience to study Chinese language.The population of Chinese Idol Drama is part of cross-cultural.Thai audience can see modern Chinese culture and modern life style from these drama.In addition,Thais can see associate Thai and Chinese culture which make Thai people understand Chinese drama easier.Chinese Idol Drama has its own unique style such as romance,illusion,aesthetic and good looking characters that make many Chinese dramas very popular in Thailand.This thesis is interested in history,current,impact and problems in broadcasting Chinese Idol Drama in Thailand.The thesis has been done not only by using empirical research and thought differentiating research but also document analysis and comparative study.This thesis has 4 parts,the first chapter is about Chinese Idol Drama history broadcasting in Thailand separated into 4 phases.Then it is about the channel of distribution via broadcasting Chinese Idol Drama in Thailand through free television program,including the current situation of broadcasting in Thailand.The second chapter is about the results after Chinese drama broadcast,an impact on the people as well as entertainment industry in Thailand and China.The third chapter is an analysis why Chinese drama was popular in Thailand using theory of psychology.The fourth chapter is about the problems and solutions of Chinese drama.The last chapter presents conclusion and solutions for further research.
