Informal Learning Spaces In The Libraries Of Universities

Our society need people who think creatively, innovatively, critically and independently, with the ability to connect, but traditional school system lost effectiveness. Libraries as important places of learners' active learning, are experiencing great changes and challenges. Nowadays, "new-style learning space" which different from the traditional reading spaces crop out frequently in libraries.Informal learning as an effective way of learning in daily activities, has become a popular field in recent years. This article applied this theory to define "new-style learning spaces" as " informal learning spaces". At the same time, the informal learning spaces were divided into three types:individual learning spaces, cooperative learning spaces and communication learning spaces according to three forms of informal learning.The article summarized the design principles of the informal learning spaces of university libraries through a large number of field researches and case analysis. Then, based on classification, analyzes their spatial and characteristics, and affords the corresponding design points. Finally, this article took East China University of Science and Technology Library as practical application to verify the point of view.
