Along with computer-aided design technology and the development of network technology and the popularity of software development based on UG mechanical parts libraries become an important general engineering CAD software applications, business has been widespread attention and study. UG software has a strong design, manufacturing, analysis, and product data management functions. UG software like other CAD software is universal software for secondary development on the basis of UG, UG can be expertise with powerful software seamlessly links for fast, efficient professional applications, greatly improving product design efficiency shorten the product development cycle.In this paper, according to the mechanical parts library building a database principles and related technologies, it proposed building a database method UG environment and ways. Use of program control and three-dimensional parametric model combination, make sure to create a parameter expression gear model, then draw three-dimensional solid gear according to the parameter expression, and to ensure that the value of the size and shape of the gear model with the parameters of expression changes. After creating the gear model, UG write menus and interactive dialog boxes, the use of UG/OPEN UISTYLER develop good interactive dialog boxes, and then on the VC++6.0 programming with UG OPEN/API language, the interactive dialog boxes and gear model linked, passed dialog box, enter or select a value to the expression gear model, and update the program. Thus, when the input gear in an interactive dialog design parameters, run the program, the original model of the gear will be in accordance with the new value of the expression regenerate gear model, thus obtaining a solid model of the gear required by the user.Establish user-oriented mechanical parts libraries working interface, parameter-driven mechanical parts, simple and easy to operate, a user can quickly generate the desired model according to user needs, Parametric modeling and data management gear gear, greatly improve product development speed and design quality.
