Domestic Japanese television drama fansub groups are non-official and non-profit special groups, which have three identities of consumers, producers and communicators. The fansub groups have their own specific dissemination mode and strong communication influence. This paper uses relevant theories of communication; sociology and psychology to comprehensive analyze the fansub groups.First, the paper traces the developmental history of the fansub groups. The history can be divided into three stages, which is the initial germination period, the mature period and the multiple competition period. Then summarize the organizational management and the dissemination motivation of the fansub groups. The organizational management is normative and orderly. The fansub groups have the strict access mechanism, the mature organization structure, clear internal divisions of labor and the balance regulation. In the fansub groups, members can obtain the joy of sharing interest, their personal ability improvement and team members' identity, which would satisfy their needs for autonomy, competence and relatedness, and complete the construction of self identity. Finally, analyze the modes and effects of the communication activities of fansub groups. The multi-level diffusion network communication mode has multiple characteristic, including intrapersonal communication, interpersonal communication and mass communication. It brings the short-term incremental and penetrative communication effect, and makes Japanese television drama becoming prevalent in China. The unidirectional input mode of transnational dissemination has weakened the information control by the media organizations. It not only promoted the recognition of the Japanese culture, but also challenged our country's ideology and national culture autonomy. Government departments should not prohibit but supervise the activities of the fansub groups, and take some moderate management strategies to guide the dissemination of the fansub groups. The communication activities of fansub groups are involving infringement, but there is no legal discussion in this paper.
