The Practice And Enlightenment Research Of University Library Makerspaces

With the continuous development of the micro manufacturing and open source hardware and software sharing online, the internet extended the innovation main body of micro assembly from professional scientific research personnel to the general poeple. And then, "Maker" appeared. Although the definiton of maker has no unified conclusion, maker characteristics of out of interest, creativing freedom, willing to share, putting ideas into reality is the consensus of the people from all walks of life.As maker group gathering,makerspace began to appear. Makerspace provide necessary hardware equipment and tools like 3D printing, CNC machine, laser cutting and so on. In this physical space, makers could be free to share experience and innovate, and push creative products to market with the support of government and enterprises. In the field of higher education, the make learning mode propeled school quality education and bring profound changes in university education. As higher education front, information collection and distribution center and adhering to the resource service concept, university library has become the natural place for makerspace. At the moment, majority of American colleges and universities are established makerspaces which are mature, and content service is perfect. while our country colleges and universities are few to establish a makerspace. In order to promote our country's colleges and universities makerspace practice process, it's necessary to introduce the successful practices of university library makerspace cases and theoretical research in detail.Firstly, this paper discussed the concept of maker and makerspace, reviewed the development history of makerspace, analysised the relationship between makerspace and university library and their significance. Author using the internet investigation and literature survey method, selecting the 9 practice of university library makerspace to investigate, and then, using the mathematical analysis to analyzed the results, to exploring their basic resources, service projects, cooperation mechanism and operation mode. Finally, according to the current situation of the development of the United States and the reality of our country, author puts forward 7 advices: improve basic resources, rich service projects, diversified cooperation mechanism, flexible operation mode, pay attention to cultural propaganda, change technological and strengthen librarians' training, and looking to the future development trend of library makerspace.
