This thesis analyzed the application of BSC(balanced scorecard)in University teachers' performance management by applying the research methods of documentation,survey and so on.With the fast development of higher education in China,the main function of higher education has been transferred from teaching and educating people to personnel training,academic research and serving the local economic development.This transformation not only puts forward higher requirements for the universities but also increases difficulties for measuring the work load and managing performance of teachers in universities.The methods to implement reasonable performance management,to show the university teachers' work efficiency in teaching,researching and serving the society and to motivate university teachers are important issues to be solved by university performance management system.On reviewing the theories about performance management and BSC(balanced scorecard),this thesis presented the problems of teachers' performance management in universities in China,including outweighing the research index but ignoring setting teaching and educating evaluation index,no adequate personal growth indicator,lack of efficiently cost control and incomplete performance management system and so on.BSC(balanced scorecard),which has been widely used in enterprises,is an advanced method of performance management.In this way,evaluation index can be constructed from four aspects including customers,internal procedure,personal learning and development and finance.It is necessary and feasible to implement BSC(balanced scorecard)to manage university teachers' performance because it is completely conformity with university teachers' career orientation and work.Based on the actual situation of C University,this thesis set teachers' performance management index for the university from four aspects including customers,internal procedure,personal learning and development,and finance by applying BSC(balanced scorecard)theory,used analytic hierarchy process(AHP)to conform the weighted coefficient,proposed some measures to ensure the implementation of BSC(balanced scorecard)in teachers' performance management for C University.Thisthesis means to provide a set of scientific management scheme for the university to promote its teacher's performance management,and also a theoretical base and practical scheme for other universities.
