China has always been a version that the literature and history are interlinked. Chinese subject shares the most closely relations with History subject among all subjects in senior schools. We enjoy poetry that is the essence of the excellent traditional culture in our country,which is a country of poetry, with its rich imagination, harmonious rhyme, meaningful means, strong emotions. To some extent, there are not only a product of history, but also reflect the politics, economy and culture in different periods. With these features of poetry, given the value of poetry assisted history teaching, included historical value, aesthetic education values and cultural values, in particular the role of the aesthetic education values to students in the history teaching. Therefore, the introduction of poetry in the history has profound implications for history teaching in senior school, which is not only in line with the requirements of the new curriculum standards and three-dimensional object and the quality of teachers' training, but also conducive to improve the effectiveness of classroom and develop history textbooks diversification. This thesis of the first part is based on a questionnaire, to analyze the feasibility and necessity of the application of poetry in history teaching of senior school. In the second part, it pointed out that the application of poetry in the history textbook, and discussed about the application of poems in the teaching process with case, at last came to a conclusion that we should increase attention to the value of poetry and strengthen the quality of teachers. The last part is aimed at present condition and problem of its poetry in practice and puts forward some strategies to solute the above problems, especially for the part of ancient Chinese history. In a word, the writer of the thesis thinks that we should proceed from the poetry to the other assistant materials to used to promote history teaching. That is to say, it's important ways of realizing the educational objective and promoting overall development to linked other assistant literature materials included poetry to history teaching.
