The paper focuses on putting theory into practice as the purpose of solving practical problems. From the perspective of the management of an exhibit ion design company, the paper starts with the design process of the Company A’s core business, museum exhibit ion design, focuses on using process improvement methods to improve the process, its support and team roles of museum exhibit ion design project, proposes reasonable plans and put them into practice. It helps to improve the working efficiency and project quality of museum exhib ition design, company’s production efficiency and its competitiveness as well as to figure out a possible standard fo r peer companies by surmising common methods, improving design management for museum exhibition design and standardize the market.The current major issues for Company A’s museum exhibition design are described as following. Designs divorced from construction are less feasible, poor construction effect and expensive as a result of no reasonable assessment system. No specified management supervisor d uring the design process and lack of communication between relevant departments lead to a low efficiency design. Designers cannot cover all the requirements from customer so the final result is different from what customer supposes and design is less likely to be successful. Other issues that people is not able to share the design resources and is work overload. It is clear that the museum exhibition design process of C ompany A is not competitive with its growth.It requires an analysis of Company A’s museum exhibition design process in order to find the specified problems. The paper uses methods like literature stud y, interview method, questionnaire survey and flow charts to extract irrational elements in design process during the analysis.The improvement of the current museum exhibit ion design process is raised after the issues are clearly shown. The main contents are as follows. First point is the improvement of museum exhibition design process. Designers should get involved into the contact with the customer before starting design. They need to enhance the communication with the customer which helps to win the bidding. Set up a kick off meeting with the project team and strengthen their sense of process management. Integrating concepts design phase and planning phase and run them in parallel to not only save time, but enhancing the understanding of the designer to the planning concepts. Add a check phase to manage the quality of the plan before bidding. Perform a feasibility assessment at the beginning of the construction to make sure the design is reasonable and cost is low enough. Make sure the evaluation and summary of the project is property performed after construction so the company gains valuable experience and can avoid similar mistakes so the company improves itself quickly. Second point is the supporting design based on improved design process. Establish a team for the project that is responsible for scheduling project team member, overall planning resources, break down the barriers between each department and enhance the interaction in between the specialists. Set up a project leader as a “process coordinator”. This position should manage and supervise the project by taking the responsibility of communication, coordination and supervision, manage the project schedule and check the bidding documents, etc. According to manager consultant system a project leader should get involved into the design process and run a professional evaluation on the feasibility of the design form the perspective of construction, reduce cost based on quality guarantee and get involved into design to increase the completion of the project. Addit ionally, company should build a platform to share resources as the information assurance for museum exhibit ion design process improvement. Set up a performance system construction based on process thus increase motivation of employees and supporting the process management.This paper provides goals, principles, procedures, methodolog ies and summarizes the strategies of process improvement for Company A’s museum exhibition design process and highlights the key factors in order to push forward the implementation of process improvement.The research will be applied to achieve the purpose of improving Company A by promoting efficiency and projects quality of museum exhibition design using Principles of Management with the methods of Process Improvement.
