In recent years, with the popularity of the smart terminals and the rapid growth of mobile data services, the demands for mobile broadband networks are greatly increased. New air interface technologies and the flat IP network structure are adopted in 3GPP LTE networks, which can provide the peak rate of the downlink 100 Mbit / s and uplink 50 Mbit / s. LTE has become the world mainstream technical evolution scheme to cater effectively to the explosive growth of the mobile data service.This thesis analyzes the coverage planning and capacity planning of Yinchuan Telecom LTE network radio based on the LTE technology characteristics and general planning method. Then, the planning results are verified by simulation and measurement. The existing network coverage problems are solved through optimization. The main contents of this thesis are as follows:(1)The planning of the China Telecom Yinchuan LTE wireless network is analyzed based on the network coverage. The maximum allowable path loss for the wireless signal is obtained through the link budget calculation. The cell coverage radius is calculated on the basis of design objectives and propagation model. Then, the coverage area of each cell is derived. Finally, the required number of base stations in the planned region is obtained.(2)The planning of China Telecom Yinchuan LTE wireless network is analyzed based on the network capacity. The uplink and downlink throughput per user is estimated through the analysis of the business model and traffic model. The number of supported users per cell is then determined according to the cell capacity. Combined with the market forecast of the number of users, the number of stations can be obtained from the perspective of capacity. The capacity planning is combined with the coverage planning, and the final result should meet the requirements of coverage and capacity simultaneously.(3)The planning results of Yinchuan Telecom LTE network should be verified by simulation software. The LTE network of urban areas in Yinchuan is simulated by using atoll software with the SPM propagation model adopted. The reference signal received power(RSRP), SINR, uplink and downlink throughput, etc. are analyzed. Simulation results show that the LTE network planning in Yinchuan can meet all coverage index requirements.(4)The measurement towards the implementation of the Yinchuan LTE network is carried out. The measurement route and the measurement method are planned. Problems such as weak coverage, cross-boundary coverage, overlapping coverage and MOD3 interference which emerge during the measurement can be solved by using the optimization method.
