The Study Of New Media Applied In Rural Information Service In China

Rural areas take up a vast region of China. The unimpeded access to information is important for economic and cultural development. However, information requirements of rural residents have never been satisfactorily met; as economic poverty and knowledge poverty are mutual, rural areas are always places with knowledge poverty. With the development of internet, new media appear constantly, rural residents can search and take advantage of information resources through Network or new media like those in areas full of documental information so as to satisfy the demand for economic development. To some extent, features of Internet-based new media exactly correspond with national conditions’ development and changes of information demands. Developing new media information service in rural areas is also in need for changing the instability and uneven development of China’s library and information undertaking, which has a practical meaning.Combined with literature, network and field research, on the basis of field research on information service and application status of new media in 4 villages in Shizhu County of Chongqing, rural residents’ information requirements, information seeking ability and information service status are acquired. Combined with the features, new medium’s advantages of applying to rural information service are analyzed, so as to find out the existing problems in its application and further the discussion on feasible patterns. Finally, this paper summarizes the specific methods of the new media in rural information services, from six aspects of the specific new media used in rural information services security measures.According to the research in this paper:with its unique features, new media can find a new path to be successfully implemented in information service in rural areas, making up the shortage of traditional media in information service. Meanwhile, that new media used in rural information service in China is also flawed, therefore, the application of new media in the rural information service should be "integration", is a integration of traditional media and new media or new media for local rural reality and information demand of rural residents, which can greatly satisfy rural residents’ information demands and adapt to the current level of China’s new media development. This paper argues that the integration mode of new media and traditional media is feasible in new media application on rural information service.
