Both for individual development and the future of a nation, reading definitely have a great influence. College students as a kind of high-level intellectuals, having high scientific and cultural academic level, they are the backbone of the national construction and the hope of the future. Their reading state and standard is not just about their own comprehensive quality and development, but also about the future of the country. Since the 21st century, the rapid growth of information technology brings a series of changes has had a strong impact on college students1 reading behavior, their reading situation is not as optimistic as we thought and even worrying. For this reason, most domestic university libraries determine to set the work of promoting reading as the daily work, and actively carry out reading promotion, through various forms and contents and reading activities to guide the reading behavior of college students, in order to improve the current college students’reading condition.The current domestic university libraries have achieved fruitful results in the reading promotion practice, but there are also exist many problems. This thesis through the investigation of the domestic 70 university libraries reading promotion situation, trying to analyze the exsting problems of the reading promotion practice in the current domestic university library from the two aspects of the basic work of reading promotion activities and the development of reading promotion activities.Promoting the reading foundation work including five aspects,namely reading promotion subject, personnel team construction, funds, reading environment, and the library image shaping. Reading promotion activities include nine aspects, namely reading promotion plan, activity form and brand building, publicity activities, activities means, readers’reading behavior incentive mechanism, cooperation mechanism, reading behavior survey, participate in the activities of nationwide reading situation, and the assessment of nine aspects.In view of the current problems that exist in the university libraries in the readin g promotion, this paper introduces and studys the project management theory and met hods, corporate identity system (CIS) as well as brand management theory from other disciplines, furthermore, it puts forward some suggestions on the optimization of readi ng promotion activities in university library basing on the aspects of theory and practi ce. Finally, this paper introduces the related theories、suggestion on practice of the rea ding promotion project in Yunnan University, works on how to further and optimize t he practice, in order to benefit the efforts of optimization of domestic university librar ies reading promotion activities.
