High speed image acquisition system can collect to the movement of high-speed moving objects that the human eye can not distinguish and capture the moment of high speed moving objects and store the image information.These image data or video information is an important resource for the following analysis and research on the motion law of high speed moving objects.High speed image acquisition system are becoming more and more mature and high-speed image acquisition frame rate has reached a high rate in Foreign developed country.But the research in this area is relatively backward, so it is very important to study a high speed image acquisition system.In this paper, the key technology of high speed image acquisition system is studied based on the technical index of the subject. Basic principle is a high speed image sensor converts the optical signal into an electrical signal, main control device used to initialize the high-speed image sensor and pretreated the image,mainly remove image noise.Main control device also control the collected image data buffer to the SDRAM, and achieve the image real-time VGA display, will eventually be collected image data storage to the SD card. The system mainly includes the front-end image acquisition, image preprocessing, image storage and image display.Using high speed image sensor LUPA300 as the image acquisition device, the core controller use Cyclone Altera series EP4CE15F17C8N FPGA.The whole system is divided into hardware design and software design. The hardware design includes front panel designing, FPGA control module designing, storage module designing and display module designing.Software design is divided to serval modules and use Verilog hardware description language in the Quartus Ⅱ environment,including the LUPA300 sensor initialization module, image preprocessing module, image storage module and VGA display module. The logic function simulation was carried out by ModelSim software.Finally, build the experimental platform for verificating the design of high speed image acquisition system.The working frequency of the sensor is 80MHZ and sampling depth is 10 bits.Sampling rate is 249fps per second in the full 640*480 resolution in stable state.
