In order to avoid the mould damaging caused by product residues or slider dislocation during the plastic injection products processing in the manufacturing industry, a remote video monitoring system based on FPGA was designed for monitoring the mould working conditions in the plastic injection processing. When the whole system was designed in this paper, FPGA was taken as the master controller, each interface module at outside of the control core system board collected the acquisition, processing and control of image signal together, so as for, the monitoring end of the remote host computer realized the monitoring for mould image video. When the abnormal situation occered on the moulds during processing, the operators could timely get the abnormal alarm from the monitoring end of the remote host computer, and get to the processing site for manual handling, and avoiding the mould deamaging.Discussing and compareing the advantages and disadvantages of several kinds of common video monitoring systems In this paper, FPGA monitor was finally taken as the core controller for the whole remote video monitoring system; Using Verilog Hardware Description Language, FPGA interval logic module designs were completed on Quartusâ…ˇ software development platform, the mould image captured by image sensor were processed and compared in FPGA, and produced alarm signals at abnormal time, then would be transferred via the wireless local area network, thus, the working conditions would be displyed at the monitoring end of the remote host computer, and make the operators realize the real time monitoring for plastic injection moulds at large distance.The whole remote video monitoring system based on FPGA was composed of the system hardware circuit design and system software section design. In this systm, Quartus â…ˇ software was used as the development platform, the Verilog hardware description language was used to design the internal logic module of FPGA, such as image data acquisition, SDRAM image cache, image processing and comparing, serial port transmission, and etc. The hardware circuit was composed of Cyclone IV series of EP4CE6E22C8 models of FPGA core system by Altera company, CMOS image sensor OV7670 by OmniVision company and HLK-RM04 remote communication module by Hailingke. The images signals captured by OV7670 image sensor would be cached and compared for processing through the logic module designed in FPGA. The alarm signals produced at the moulds being in abnormal time would be sent to the monitoring end of the remote host computer via HLK-RM04 communication module, then, the operation staffs could examine the mould working conditions via monitoring software program.The tested results showed that the remote video monitoring system based on FPGA could realize the remote video monitoring for the moulds, the system could be stablely long-term running, effectively eliminateing all kinds of potential dangerous for the moulds, reducing costs of the mould maintenance, improving the product processing, production efficiency.
