In recent years,machine vision systems are developing rapidly and maturinggradually.they are widely used in many fields,such as industrial production andscientific research and they are also play an increasingly important role. with thedevelopment of the semiconductor industry, the processor can greatly enhance thecapacity of processing. Because of the new development, the system of imageacquisition and the system of image processing gradually merged to a large embeddedsystem.In this paper, an embedded system based on the FPGA is studied,which iscomposed of the subsystem of image acquisition based on a kind of high resolutioncolor linear CCD and the subsystem of image processing which based on the structureof distributed parallel processing can extract image information and identify imageinformation. after the improvement of the subsystem of image processing,Theembedded system become a complete system,which can acquire images and processiamges. It can be used for food color choose, cloth defects, bar examination and otherrelated industries.In this paper,the main study is divided into the subsystem of image acquisitionand the subsystem of image processing. the CCD and AD drive, digital and analoggain, CCD nonuniformity correction, the white balance adjustment, all kinds ofexternal interface and the PC interface are researched and implemented in thesubsystem of image acquisition.based on the practical application background, theunit of image data management, the unit of processing and controlling,the unit ofimage processing on sub board and the PC interface are researched and implementedin the subsystem of image processing. The performance of the whole design isverified and the goal of the design is achieved by the test of the subsystem of imageacquisition and the subsystem of image processing respectively and the test of thetwo subsystem working together.
