Chinese reality TV show after nearly 20 years of development, its content and form makes the top in the field of reality TV show in China. The competitive reality show in China are become a social public attention at the same time. The article based on the Hunan TV’s program “I am a signer” as the research object, used James W. Carey’s ritual view of communication, who from the U.S as a experts of communication. It analyses the current competitive reality shows’ characteristics, significance and problems of ritualized from the perspective of the ritual, and extend to the development of the competitive practice class a reality show two-way thinking, so as to bring new enlightenment of the development of athletic type of reality TV show.The full text is divided into 7 parts:The preface of the text is mainly illustrates the research background and significance of the thesis, combing the spread about the concept of ritual theory of recent years, at the same time for the innovation of this article.The second part to the James w. Carey view theory discusses the spread of the rituals, shed light on the development origin and the point of view. By spreading ceremony view and view of comparative analysis, in order to highlight the central idea and content of service concept, content with this as the theoretical core of the full text. Exploration of ritual view development origin mainly affected by Carey, in order to better understanding spread ceremony.A third part, understand comprehensively and deeply the competitive reality shows in China through overview of the development of competitive reality shows. And analysis the development of competitive reality shows reflection and prospect.In the finally part of this paper, to summarize the article main content, and analysis of the reality shows provides direction for the future. At the same time to show the problems and deficiencies in this whole paper.The “I am a singer” as the object of this text, use James W. Carey’s ritual view of communication, expression forms, characteristics and significance analysis, finally is to through the analysis of an object is extended to the whole competition like reality TV show. Through this program’s problems, to give reference for the future development competition like reality TV show, in order to better explore the sustainable development of the future competition like a reality show and positive significance. Also there are still more shortage in this article, the concept of ritual theory of cognitive depth is insufficient, the understanding of the multi-disciplinary theory is narrow. Hope in the future study, it will spread to ritual view of the theory to understand, for the development of domestic competitive category TV reality show feasibility reference Suggestions.
