As respond to the powerful national "Twelfth Five-Year" Plan for cultural industry of science and technology and as a strong push to practice of China’s cultural technology industry, various types of theaters and studios are under construction or renovation or have been constructed all over the country to meet the fast increasing cultural needs of all kinds of social groups. Thanks to the great development of electric technologies the traditional theatrical equipment control technology is gradually being replace with new digital and networking technologies; and the controlling systems are becoming more intelligent, comprehensive, and integrated, which makes it far more important in modern theatrical equipments and systems. Therefore, research and development on control protocols for performing device and integrated control systems with automatic networking function are of extraordinary significance to promoting the development of cultural and performing arts industry.A theatrical equipment control system is mainly composed of three subordinate control systems for lighting, sound and video systems, respectively. Generally, the three sub-systems are self-contained and independent to one another. By investigating the three sub-systems in the most theaters and studios, this disertation explores their technologies and implementation experiences of digital and networking technologies and proposes a TCP/IP protocol based protocol suite to comprehend signal transmission of lighting, sound, video system to achieve the integrated control of lighting, sound,video sub-systems.The proposed protocol suite and system, namely Theatre Management Protocol Suite(TMPS protocol)can be devided into 6 parts: 1)Content Discovering Function, 2)System Device Description, 3)Device Identification, 4)Device Controlling, 5)Session Data Transmission and,6)User Datagram Protocols. The controlling signals of lighting,sound, video and other entertainment equipments are transmited over the TMPS which is a critical part of the proposed Theatrical Equipment Integrated Control System(TEICS).TEICS system consists of three levels: the supervision layer, control layer and equipment layer to fulfill supervision and control functions for all kinds of theatrical devices. The control and media stream signals such as lighting, sound, video and othersignals can be transmitted through fiber, wireless networks and other networks. It can not only achieve fine control of a variety of theatrical equipments, but also can perform monitoring status and updating parameters of theses devices, such as address code,sound pressure, screen parameters, temperature, fan speed, etc, by the monitoring software system with automatic networking capabilities.The designed TEICS system can transform current independent controlling into be centralized and/or distributed integrated controlling, which is of great practical significance and promotion value. The TEICS system lays basis for future research topic on Theater Management System(TMS), which includes theater management system such as performing arts equipment control system, stage machinery system, monitoring system, fire control system etc.
