Investigation And Research Of Peasants’ Mobile Reading Needs

With the high-speed development of mobile Internet, mobile information service has become the new information service mode. In order to effectively solve the problem of "Three Rural Issues", promote rural economic and social development and the building of the new socialist rural policy requirements, it is important to develop mobile information services in rural areas, where network information infrastructure is relatively backward. How to make use of the mobile internet to carry out the rural and agricultural information service has became the important task of rural informationization development. This paper first conducts a survey research on peasants’ mobile reading needs in Jiangsu province. Then it gives an analysis of the characteristics of peasants’ mobile reading needs in different rural areas of Jiangsu. Finally, it proposes problems in its rural mobile reading service process and comes up with specific recommendations.The paper first gives an overview on both domestic and oversea studies which focus on the status quo of mobile reading, mobile reading service and peasants’ information needs. With a reference of the mobile reading theory in the field of information Science, it builds a peasants’ mobile reading needs theoretical framework. The paper consists of two major topics:mobile reading content requirements and mobile reading service requirements. Mobile reading content requirements include content attribute requirements and content form requirements; Mobile reading service requirements include technical requirements and service requirements.As the second step,6 townships were chosen from northern, southern and central areas of Jiangsu Province as subjects of a questionnaire survey to investigate the topics mentioned above. The results were used to analyze the status quo and characteristics of peasants’ mobile reading requirements in Jiangsu. It has been found out after the survey analysis that peasants’ needs for mobile reading service is objective reality. There are significant differences in mobile reading needs among the peasants of different degree and professional identity.Finally, based on the results of this survey, we put forward constructive service strategy from the perspective of the peasants’ needs in mobile environment, and the personalized characteristic of peasants. These will provide great help for the development of mobile reading service in our country.
