High frame frequency image acquisition system can capture and record the transient information for high speed movement objects, analyze the motion laws, trends and attitude of the objects, which provide effective data information for target tracking, precision guiding, missile launching and provide technical support for the research and application of aerospace, arms, vessels and nuclear technology. A series of research results for high frame frequency image acquisition system has been gained because of high attention in the military developed countries throughout the world, however, in China it is still in the primary stage, not only it needs upper monitor to record but also the existing product frame rate is too low to meet the needs of weapon system, so it has improtment significance to research the high frame frequency image acquisition.Based on the requirement of the position records of the high speed moving target on airborne weapon system, the 500fps image acquisition and real-time display system has been designed and its key technologies has been researched.The overall design scheme of the image acquisition for 500fps CMOS camera system, with the digital CMOS image sensor of LUPA1300-2 of Cypress Company as core processor for FPGA,is researched,and whole hardware system has been designed with memory of DDR and interface of VGA and LCD. The high-speed data transmission is realized by the idea of modular design,ping-pong and pipelining technology,and high-speed interface of LVDS.Data are stored by SDRAM and DDR. Images are displayed on VGA in real-time by making full use of online resources of FPGA to achieve a variety of image processing algorithms.The sub-module that integrated in FPGA chip independently has been synthesized and achieved in the environment of QuartusⅡ 11.0 using Verilog as a hardware description language, and each function of the sub-unit has been simulated through the Modelsim. At last the whole function of the system is realized by connecting all the modules as a whole through the top-level unit.The function of main modules for the image acquisition for 500fps CMOS camera system has been designed,which is composed with 4 units:the image acquisition unit, image cache unit, image processing unit and image display unit.All the working process of the 4 units will be described in detail in the paper.Finally, the static image acquisition has been completed and dynamic image acquisition experiments has been confirmed.The results show that the system can realize the image capture and record at the frequency of’500fps for high-speed movement of objects.The system can work stably and meet the requirements of technology index.
