Urban reading space is related to urban cultural background and human history. "Geography" is an important subject in the study of journalism and communication, and each medium has local relative characteristics of the natural geography and social culture. Newspaper as a cultural carrier, a media of information, and a knowledge and culture exchange platform, plays an important role in the urban cultural space. Qingdao is typical of this. Therefore, this paper focuses on Qingdao city and three of Qingdao’s metropolis daily, namely, "the Peninsula Metropolis Daily", "the Qingdao Morning Post", and "Qingdao Evening News". This paper analyzes the development history of Qingdao metropolis daily with regard to its reality, which aims to study the impact of the newspaper reading section on urban reading space.After all, with the rise and development of new media, the center of the media is shifting to network and APP, and traditional media is facing many challenges, so it is important to take this issue into account. According to the trend of the development of foreign metropolis daily, as well as the status quo of the close of the traditional media in Shanghai and Kunming, "newspaper for each city" has become a trend, and is closer to each city. Under the impact of the environment, the newspaper function is weakened, as providers of information media, in addition to providing information, can also provide the knowledge and wisdom, and it fell upon the newspaper reading version. This requires a selection of the true, concise, and refined reading information from the reading version in the metropolis media.This paper conducts dimensional analysis from the relationship between editors and newspaper, between readers and newspaper, and between readers and readers. Editors, as the producers of newspaper reading version, play an important role in shaping the urban reading space. Readers get involved in the urban reading space when they are reading and giving feedback in the mean time, which exerts an influence on the reconstruction of urban reading space. Scattered readers can form a cultural community by creating a kind of virtual culture and communication through reading salons, forums and so forth, which links the virtual to the real.Making use of the concept of urban space in the media geography, this paper analyzes the impacts of reading section on urban reading space from three media in Qingdao. The innovation of this paper lies in the combination of theories and interviews of readers. It explores the interactive relationship between the reading section of metropolis daily and the geographical contexts of Qingdao. According to the geographical factors in the reading section, this paper analyzes how the reading section shapes and constructs urban reading space. Furthermore, it reveals the impacts of urban reading space on the content and style of the reading section.
