The concept of “open” laboratory put forward by the institutions of higher learning shows that schools are paying more attention to the cultivation of student’s creative thinking and practical ability. Apart from classrooms, the laboratory is also an important place for students to acquire practical knowledge and cultivate creative thinking. Hence, improving the utilization rate of the laboratory and rational utilizing its resources to let the students really benefit from its management is a hot issue in current researches. Accordingly, the experiment teaching and scientific research in higher institutions are trying to use advanced laboratory information management system to provide a comprehensive, standardized and convenient security for the information management of the laboratory. Under this circumstance, Luoding Polytechnic, combining its own features, is working on the development of a RFID-based laboratory information management system.RFID refers to Radio Frequency Identification Technology. It is used to obtain information about relevant objects and humans via the signals transmitted from the reader-writer installed at a certain distance to read the RFID data, which is mainly realized by non-contact typed two-way communication. The system discussed in the thesis applies the RFID technology to the management of door control, equipment, teachers and students, primarily expounding the software design of the system and its specific realization. In the beginning, the thesis describes the problems originally existed in the laboratory of Luoding Polytechnic. Then the thesis, according to the practical demands from the students, administrators and laboratory teachers, sets up their corresponding function modules and sorts out the function and performance requirements for each module. In the end, the thesis comes up with corresponding solutions to the complete laboratory information management system. For example, the system can rapidly gather the information about the laboratory equipment and the persons who come in or out of the laboratory in a non-contact manner; the administrator can add, delete and modify the information, as well as inquire and make statistics of, lead in and derive, back up and restore the existing data. The design not only achieved the functions of traditional management system, but also had its unique function with the RFID technology. It is more humanized and contains large volume of basic data to ensure comprehensive data. And the design stresses more on details, offering a convenient, scientific and powerful support for the laboratory information management.The research subject is not only able to make statistics about the students’ normal attendance, but more important realize the equipment management of the laboratory of Luoding Polytechnic and door control management, providing a scientific, rapid and scientific management model for making statistics about such information as students coming in or out of the laboratory, teachers, related laboratory equipment, laboratory arrangement, and laboratory teaching information, etc. Luoding Polytechnic, in order to make its laboratory more convenient for different users, designed the system according to the specific demands of the laboratory administrators, teachers and students. The system adopts the C/S structure, and provides three kinds of authorities: administrators, teachers and students, thus providing a convenient way for the school to establish a standardized laboratory information management system that is efficient, informationized, and commonly shared.
