In this thesis, a kind of 16-bit current-steering, high-speed, high-precise DAC is given. On account of the BiCMOS mixed signal technique platform, circuit uses the way of taking the foundation of current steering and the combination of multiple structure. By applying the combination of segmentation technique and some traditional structure to design such as thermometer structure and binary weight structure,the circuit bring about the fusion of multiple structure effectively,give play to the advantage of multiple structure in theory better and break through the limitations and drawbacks of various single structure. At the same time in order to achieve the high speed circuit, the circuit take the design of the LVDS interface on the transmission of circuit data signals and clock signals, sampling data in the clock of positive and negative along the cross, the reasonable design parameters distribution, so as to realize and guarantee the requirements of the high speed of circuit’s 500 MHZ. The whole circuit consists of LVDS parallel interfaces, a DAC core, a bandgap reference circuit, shift-adjusting cells, full-range-current-adjusting cells, and ESD circuits. The low-power techniques are used in the design of the digital and analog parts of the DAC. The circuit finally realized the design of 16 bit high precision digital to analog converter.The layouts of all the blocks are drawn and the whole layout of the DAC is constructed based on the blocks. The whole layout is fully validated before taped out. The measurement of the chip shows the DAC can realize 16-bit precision with a clock rate of 500 MHz, which fulfills the goal of our design.The work includes several parts as listed below:1. Several main statistic and dynamic parameters of DAC is briefly described2. The structure and working principle are given in details. First, the low-power techniques of digital and analog circuits are discussed. Then, based on the discussion, the low-power techniques are practically used on our design of 16-bit DAC.3. The layout of the 16-bit DAC is given in detail including the layouts of every block. After validation, the layout is taped out for manufacturing.4. The measurement of the 16-bit DAC chip is given. The tested data are analyzed and the conclusion is obtained.In this thesis, the whole research process of a product is given in details. Through the whole process including analysis, design, simulation, layout, and testament, the final 16-bit DAC chip fulfills our expectation. By now, the product has been successfully passed all kinds of examination and meets the need of application. So, the 16-bit DAC has the possibility of huge economic and social benefits.
