After researching and analyzing the status of management information system(MIS) at home and abroad, and making deep investigations into some domestic enterprises engaged in petrochemical terminals, the author has developed an integrated management information system(hereinafter referred as “IMIS”) suitable for petrochemical terminals. The system comprises eleven functional modules used for the management of comprehensive planning, operations, equipment, material procurement, HSE, customer, contract, human resource, basic information, system information database and system management respectively.The functional modules used for the management of comprehensive planning and operations can perform the information gathering, classification, summary, statistics and analysis of all kinds of data related to the operation and management of petrochemical terminals, and realize the informatization during the whole process of planning, marketing, operating, storge, metering and transportation of petrochemical products. They will turn into an IMIS by integrating with the other functional modules for the management of equipment, material procurement, HSE, customer, contract, human resource and archives. By means of the data interface between IMIS and other systems, the corresponding data can be effectively organized, interchanged and shared. Users can obtain all the relevant informatin required by them in IMIS. So the “information islands”, which frequently exist in enterprise informatization at present, can be effectively removed.IMIS adopts the object-oriented J2EE(Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition) technology prevailing in the world, and supports B/S multi-layer architecture and service-oriented architecture(SOA). The Model-View-Controller(MVC) mode has been applied in the system design, and it easily supports different client types and individual configuration. ExtJs technology based Ajax has been used in the views, which is able to provide users with more humanized operation feelings. IMIS is developed via a platform named as PCAT with development tool(Eclipse), application server(Resin), database(Oracle) and development language(Java, XML, HTML, JSP, JavaScript & VBA). The data interchange between IMIS and other systems is performed through web service, and data are processed by JDBC and SQL statements. 3DSMAX and unity3 d are respectively used as the development tool for model buliding and virtual functions of the three-dimensional virtual reality(VR).At present, IMIS has been put into trial use in a domestic petrochemical terminal, and achieves the due functions of management information system for the petrochemical terminal by means of its steady and reliable operating environment, prompt access speed, unique function correlation, simple and easy operation. The results for trial use indicate that IMIS can realizes data sharing, and provide the user with an all-round informatized digital platform, which will offer effective supports for the enterprise to conduct a better management, and is favorable to realize informatization and normalization of all the working procedures, and to increase work efficiency. As a result, the enterprise will achieve the goal for safe operation, energy-saving and consumption reduction, and improving the enterprise’s economic benefits and management ability.
